4 Auto Parts that Need to Be Replaced Regularly

Maintaining your car is essential if you want it to run smoothly and last for several years. Things like changing the oil, checking the tire pressure, filling all fluids, and regularly replacing auto parts as they break down can help keep your vehicle in prime condition. There are certain parts that need to be replaced more often than others, and Essington Avenue Used Auto Parts carries many of them in our clean and organized lot. Below are four auto parts that should be checked and replaced regularly.

1. Spark Plugs

Although they are small, spark plugs are crucial components for working vehicles. They literally generate the spark needed to power up the engine. Spark plugs can become corroded, causing them to misfire and not work properly. Not only will you waste fuel trying to get your vehicle started, but you could end up stranded somewhere with a car that won’t run, all due to rusted and deteriorating spark plugs.

2. Batteries

As spark plugs are essential for your vehicle, so are fully-charged car batteries. Your mechanic should routinely check your car’s battery to make sure it’s operating with a full charge. If you notice flickering headlights or dim dashboard lights, or your vehicle becomes increasingly difficult to start, it may be time to have a new battery installed.

3. Filters

Filters are used throughout your vehicle to keep dirt, sand, and debris from clogging the engine. Common filters include oil filters, air filters, transmission fluid filters, and fuel filters. Mechanics typically check these filters when you bring your vehicle in for an oil change. At that time, they will recommend replacing any that are no longer in good condition.

4. Brake Pads

It’s best to replace brake pads as soon as they show signs of wear and tear. They are the only protection your vehicle has between the brakes and the wheels. Once they’re gone, metal brakes begin grinding against metal wheels, which can cause expensive damage to the entire braking system.
